The Great Feast – 29th September 2017
The freemen’s feast was an annual event, hosted by the mayor, until 1835. Indeed, current Freemen Committee chairman Nigel Back’s forebear held such a gathering in 1809.
Nigel felt that the 700 year Anniversary warranted a Great Feast in keeping with the ancient tradition and welcomed guests to the auspicious St Andrews Hall where champagne was served. The event was open to Freemen only plus one guest.
Guests travelled from far and wide to attend. One Norwich Freemen family flew over from the USA to join other Freemen.
We were honoured to welcome the Mayor and Sheriff of Norwich with their consorts.
