The Norwich Freemen’s Committee holds information about Norwich Freemen for the following main reasons:

  1. To provide an interactive website where historical records of every Norwich Freeman since 1317 are freely available for research.

Only names, year of enrollment and patrimonial link (or their apprenticeship master) are available via ‘ Norwich Freemen’s Records Online’

  1. To enable purchases via our online shop.
  2. To inform.

Our principles

We are absolutely committed to protecting your privacy. Our policy can be summarised in one sentence: We will not share your information with others without your consent.

We have established the following two principles:

1. We will respect your email privacy. You will only receive an email from the  Norwich Freemen’s committee in relation to Freemen’s affairs.

2. We will not share any individual Freeman’s details (including your email address) to any third party without your consent.


What information do we collect?

We collect information through enrollment at a Court of Mayoralty.

The minimum information we need to register a Freeman is your first and last name, date of enrollment and your email address.

We also ask for your postal address and telephone number, because if you purchase items from the online shop, so they can be sent to you, or for any queries into the order) and to send out Freemen’s Election information.

How do we use your information?

With your consent, we use your information to send you emails about the  Norwich Freemen. This includes news about:

The Annual Outing,

The Common Hall of Freemen

Freemen’s Elections.

The Freemen’s Charity.
